Arsenal shock move to buy Aston Villa prodigy. Nottingham Forest adds a new player to strengthen their midfield! (August 20, 2025)

Arsenal to make shock Could Morgan Rogers make a surprise move? Gunners eye swoop for Aston Villa ace after bitter Kai Havertz injury blow.

After Kai Havertz suffered a knee injury, Arsenal is considering making a surprise bid for Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa. Due to a recent knock, the German attacker will be out for another length of time after being conspicuously absent from an open training session on Wednesday morning. Viktor Gyokeres is the only recognized forward the Gunners have now that Havertz is sidelined.

The Sun claims that after Havertz suffered a knee injury this week, Arsenal will return to the transfer market to look for an attacking player. Rogers, the star of Aston Villa who won the PFA Young Player of the Year award for the 2024–25 season, is the target of the Gunners, according to the source.

Rogers seems to fit Mikel Arteta’s system well because he can play a variety of roles in the attack. According to reports, Arteta personally congratulated the 23-year-old on his award win.

Arsenal is anticipated to make an offer to Aston Villa shortly, but it is unlikely that the Villans will let go of their best player because they are not required to sell any of their current players after losing out on Leon Bailey, who went on loan to Roma, and Jacob Ramsey, who joined Newcastle. Rogers is currently valued at £80 million ($108 million).

After defeating Manchester United to start their 2025–26 campaign, Arteta’s team will play Leeds at home on Saturday.

With a €30 million buyout option, Nottingham Forest closes the agreement to acquire Douglas Luiz from Juventus.

In an attempt to return to the Premier League and put an end to his ordeal at Serie A giants Juventus, Douglas Luiz is close to joining Nottingham Forest.

Luiz is on the verge of joining Forest on loan from Juventus, and the Premier League team has an obligation to sign the Brazil international long-term depending on how many games he plays. According to the Athletic, if Forest decides to continue the transfer even if Luiz doesn’t achieve a specific number of games, there will also be a €30 million (£25.9 million/$34.9 million) buyout option attached.

Under manager Unai Emery, Aston Villa’s midfield saw Luiz play a significant role as the Birmingham team significantly improved. The 27-year-old failed to establish himself in Turin, starting only six games combined in Serie A and the Champions League. He departed for Juventus last year in a trade that enabled the Villans escape any penalties related to Profit and Sustainability Rules, but the move has been a disastrous one.

With the addition of other new players, he will now be part of a Forest team. Omari Hutchinson, James McAtee, and Arnaud Kalimuendo have also arrived at the City Ground under Nuno Espirito Santo, in addition to previous additions Igor Jesus, Jair Cunha, and Dan Ndoye. In contrast, Juventus already has players in central midfield like Teun Koopmeiners, Weston McKennie, Khephren Thuram-Ulien, and Manuel Locatelli available.

In order to formally announce Luiz’s arrival, Forest will aim to finalize the remaining terms of the agreement. After a sluggish start, Forest has had a great window after keeping Morgan Gibbs-White despite Tottenham’s interest, and their team is now stronger before their Europa League journey.
