After an agreement was made over a fee above €25 million (£21.5 million), the 22-year-old Spain international is set to undergo a medical procedure on Thursday. The player and the club have agreed to a five-year contract.
Pino has spent his whole senior career at Villarreal, making over 150 appearances in La Liga since his debut in 2020. Pino started 25 league games last season, scoring four goals and adding seven assists as Villarreal finished fifth in the Spanish top flight.
Marcelino’s side has made a solid start to the season, leading the La Liga table after two games, with Pino setting up a goal in their 5-0 victory over Girona at the weekend. Pino has 15 caps for Spain since making his senior debut in October 2021, scoring three goals.
Palace are looking for new creative players in midfield and wide areas after selling Eberechi Eze to Arsenal for up to £67.5 million. Liverpool is interested in Palace’s other important player, captain Marc Guehi, who is in his final year of contract and has stated that he will not sign a new term at Selhurst Park.
The south London club has been relatively quiet in the summer transfer window, adding left-back Borna Sosa and goalkeeper Walter Benitez to replace loanees Ben Chilwell and Matt Turner, who have returned to parent clubs Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, respectively.

Silva is the most recent Premier League player to join Dortmund, who this week announced the acquisitions of Aaron Anselmino and Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea, the latter on a season-long loan.
Having already signed strikers Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias this summer, as well as full-backs Jackson Tchatchoua and David Moller Wolfe, Wolves is getting closer to signing Girona defender Ladislav Krejci.
After a loan from Celta Vigo the previous season, they also paid £23 million to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen on a permanent basis. This week, they turned down two offers from Newcastle for the striker, for £50 million and £55 million. Strand Larsen is not for sale, according to Wolves.
