Peter Moores appointment has been confirmed by the Trent Rockets.

Following Andy Flower’s departure to lead London Spirit, the Trent Rockets have confirmed Peter Moores as their new head coach.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Peter Moores was promoted from his position as Flower’s assistant as part of the Rockets’ new ownership structure after private equity firms Cain and Ares acquired a 49% stake earlier this year.

Peter Moores, who also serves as Nottinghamshire‘s head coach, has prior franchise experience in the PSL and the Big Bash, where he coaches the Melbourne Stars.

It feels like a good time to be taking over the Rockets, and I’m really excited about the opportunity to lead the team,” Peter Moores stated. “I see this as a great opportunity to continue on from the strong and successful foundations built by Andy Flower.”

“It’s a really exciting time because of the energy and investment coming into the Hundred, especially with the Rockets’ ownership change. As we continue to aim for success, I’m particularly excited about the auction, where we’ll be trying to make sure the squad is as strong as possible.”

The Rockets lost to the three-time champion Oval Invincibles in the final of the 2025 Men’s Hundred, finishing as runners-up. Moores became the first coach to win the trophy with three different counties when Nottinghamshire won the County Championship.

“We’re really happy to promote Peter Moores to the role of men’s head coach,” stated Mick Newell, director of cricket for the Trent Rockets. He is undoubtedly one of the best English head coaches of his generation, and his extensive familiarity with Trent Bridge will be very helpful in his new position.

“His winning mentality, his strong record of improving players, and the experience he gained last year, all make him a superb fit to take over the role from Andy Flower.”
