Experts in body language reveal Ruben Amorim is about to leave Manchester United by emphasizing the telltale symptoms that he is “mentally and emotionally” worn out following the Grimsby disaster. (August 30, 2025)

According to one body language specialist, Ruben Amorim’s tenure as Manchester United’s head coach is coming to an end. This is because of the team’s shocking Carabao Cup second-round loss to Grimsby Town.

Fans gathered on social media to make fun of Amorim’s efforts on the touchline when he was drafting his strategy in the pouring rain at Blundell Park.

The controversy surrounding the 40-year-old’s stay at the club has only been heightened by his remarks made after the game.

Additionally, body language expert Darren Stanton thinks he will decide to leave the Old Trafford hotseat soon due to the ongoing fallout from Wednesday night.

“He has no other option, but based on what we’ve seen of Amorim thus far, I believe he will do everything in his power to try and find a solution and find out what’s happening at United, both with the individual players and the collective,” he told OLBG.

However, I don’t believe Amorim is a man who will put up with it indefinitely. He simply possesses his professional ethics.

“Every football manager has an ego.” He wants to work at the highest levels after this job, and I don’t think he’s going to lay over and let his career and himself be ruined.

“If Amorim walks, it will not look good on him, so he will do everything in his power to change it, but he will not let himself be continuously criticized.”

“I think it will get to the point where he will walk.”

Stanton—also referred to as the human lie detector—cites his grounds for thinking the 40-year-old is emotionally and cognitively worn out.

Ruben Amorim has a lot of admirable qualities. He tells it as it is. He doesn’t attempt to avoid the problems or blot things out.

Even when things haven’t gone so well, he usually has a Cheshire cat smile on his face, but not right now. Ruben doesn’t seem to have the same amount of conviction that we are accustomed to. He appears emotionally and mentally worn out.

The most fascinating feeling, in my opinion, is disbelief. Being in this predicament versus Grimsby really astounded him. He probably never imagined that they would lose this game.

It was fascinating what he said about his own players speaking loudly for him. He almost seemed to be in shock. I don’t think he truly understood what happened in that match, and he is a very disappointed man.

We observe indications of anger, disappointment, and plain frustration. He lowered his head for the most of his post-match interviews. That’s an indication of humiliation as well. The furrow lines in his forehead and the way his eyes come together, drawn down, show the rage.

“I think he’s implying that his players have thrown it against Grimsby when he says the team has been getting better and improving.” You get the impression that he’s not far from saying that his intentions are being thwarted, as if his squad is ignoring him despite the fact that it means they’re losing these games.

Stanton agrees with the bookmakers, who rank Amorim as one of the top contenders to be fired as the first Premier League manager.

After his team drew 2-2 in regular time, he watched helplessly as they lost 12-11 on penalties.

The devastating loss only makes their dismal start to the Premier League season—they have already lost at home to Arsenal and drawn at Fulham, dropping them to 16th place in the standings.

Because of all of that, Amorim is 13/8 to depart Old Trafford, according to bookmaker Betfair.
