Hasaranga is still eligible to play in the tri-series despite suffering a hamstring ache during the second ODI against Pakistan.

In order to cover for all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who has a hamstring injury, legspinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth has been added to Sri Lanka’s T20I squad for the T20I tri-series in Pakistan.
Hasaranga’s participation in the series has not yet been ruled out. During the second ODI match against Pakistan, he developed a hamstring ache. As a result, he missed the third ODI, which resulted in a 3-0 loss for Sri Lanka.
After competing for Sri Lanka A in the Asia Cup Rising Stars competition in Qatar, Viyaskanth will immediately join the team. He played his first senior cricket match for Sri Lanka in October 2023 at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Viyaskanth first gained notoriety in December 2020 when, at the age of 18 years and 364 days, he became the youngest player to play for the Jaffna Stallions in the Lanka Premier League. He also made history in that tournament by being the first Jaffna native to participate in a game that was broadcast globally. In August 2025, Viyaskanth took the second most wickets in the SLC T20 League. He has taken 67 wickets overall at 20.98 with an economy of 7.18 in 59 T20 matches.
Charith Asalanka, Sri Lanka’s regular T20I captain, is also absent from the tri-series. Due to his illness, he flew home, and Dasun Shanaka will take over as captain. On November 20, Sri Lanka will take on Zimbabwe in the tri-series’ opening match. Before the final on November 29, each team will play the other twice in the series, which begins on November 18.
