Newcastle Legend Urges Swift Sale of Isak Amidst Liverpool Chaos. RB Leipzig Sanctions London Trip for Xavi Simons Amidst Fierce Tottenham Interest. (August 28, 2025)

The club veteran rips the “shambles” of a story amid the £150 million Liverpool link and orders Newcastle to transfer Alexander Isak “this week.”

Chris Waddle, a former midfielder for Newcastle United, has called for his former team to sever connections with Alexander Isak right once, calling the striker’s lengthy transfer saga a “shambles” that has degraded the team. Liverpool’s £150 million ($203 million) proposal has permeated Newcastle’s summer, leaving supporters incensed, management in a panic, and the dressing room in a state of uncertainty.

With the transfer deadline just a few days away, Liverpool have stepped up their pursuit of the Swedish forward. Throughout the summer, Newcastle has maintained their position that their valued asset is worth every cent of the £150 million appraisal. However, as time runs out, pressure is growing to either make money or run the danger of bringing conflict into the upcoming season.

WHAT WADDLE SAID!

“I would sell Alexander Isak this week if I were Newcastle,” Waddle told Esports Bets. We’re not talking about a player worth a couple of million pounds, even if I know many supporters are pleading with the team to keep him in order to punish him. There is too much money involved for Isak to sit in the reserves, and his transfer would be worth a nine-figure sum.

I would accept the £100 million plus add-ons if he were to depart and end up at Liverpool. That would be the end of the story. It’s embarrassing that the entire affair has been handled like a pub team. Both Isak and his agent have approached the situation entirely incorrectly.

The pursuit of Wolves attacker Jorgen Strand Larsen could be the deciding factor in Newcastle’s decision to sell. Eddie Howe views the 24-year-old Norwegian as a possible successor after his impressive season last year. Newcastle had already submitted a £55 million ($74 million) offer, but Wolves quickly turned it down. The way for Isak to leave might be abruptly cleared if the Magpies can increase their offer and close the deal.

ARE YOU Aware?

Waddle is sure that none of them can match Isak’s technical skill, even if Newcastle manages to get Larsen.

He stated, “Isak will be very difficult to replace because he can create a goal on his own and picks the ball up in deeper areas.” “Isak is the most technically skilled player on the market; they typically need service and the ball in the box to score. Although Nicolas Jackson and Jorgen Strand Larsen have been mentioned as potential replacements, neither is as good as Isak.

“I’m sure there are some hidden gems around the world in other continents like South America or Africa that could grow to become a similar player, but I don’t know of anyone in the Premier League who would be a realistic replacement.”

Isak is a top forward who might revolutionize Liverpool’s assault for years to come, so acquiring him would be a declaration of purpose. However, forcing Newcastle to participate has been a difficult task. Isak will be at Howe’s mercy at St. James’ Park if the Reds are unable to reach an agreement before Monday’s deadline. After his connection with the club hierarchy soured, he is desperately trying to dodge this proposition.

Tottenham shows interest in Xavi Simons, therefore RB Leipzig permits him to visit London.

In light of Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in the playmaker, RB Leipzig has allowed Xavi Simons to visit London in order to discuss his future.

Spurs, who lost James Maddison to an anterior cruciate ligament injury and missed out on deals for Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, are interested in Simons, 22, as they want to bolster head coach Thomas Frank’s attacking options before the September 1 transfer deadline.

Simons will be exempted from first-team responsibilities at Leipzig for the remainder of the week, including Saturday’s match against Heidenheim at RB Arena, if the Premier League’s interest in him materializes and talks between the parties become more serious.

Simons will probably return to Germany in time to participate in training for the game this weekend, though, assuming interest does not develop.

Leipzig is keen to settle the matter, but they are determined that Simons will stay with the team and be reintegrated as soon as possible if their asking price is not met. The team is trying to bounce back after last Friday’s 6-0 humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich.

Despite only joining the Bundesliga team on a permanent contract worth €50 million from Paris Saint-Germain in January, the Netherlands international is available this summer.

In July, The Athletic revealed that Simons had indicated a wish to quit their Bundesliga opponents, prompting Bayern Munich to inquire about him.

With Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens all signing in attacking positions and Estevao Willian officially moving from Palmeiras, Chelsea, which won the Club World Cup in July, has had a busy summer.

Eze joined Arsenal from Crystal Palace, Gibbs-White signed a new deal at Nottingham Forest, and Maddison, a midfielder for Spurs and England, is expected to miss much of the season after surgery on his ACL.

This summer, Frank’s team was bolstered with the arrival of Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich, as well as the permanent additions of Mathys Tel, who played on loan at Spurs during the second half of 2024–25, and attacker Mohammed Kudus.

At the age of seven, Simons enrolled in Barcelona’s La Masia academy before joining PSG in 2019.

Short preview of Xavi’s Career:

In 2022, PSG sold him to PSV Eindhoven, but he had such a successful season—22 goals and 11 assists in 48 games—that the French team exercised his buy-back option.

In the end, he played just 11 games for PSG across two seasons.

Despite missing 15 games due to surgery for a left ankle ligament damage, he played 33 games for Leipzig in all competitions last season, recording 11 goals and 8 assists.

Simons made his debut for the Netherlands senior national team at the age of 19, and he now has 28 caps.

“Simons hasn’t yet found his ideal role.”

One of the most sought-after properties during this timeframe was supposed to be Xavi Simons. It was anticipated that a deal for one of Europe’s most gifted playmakers would be finalized before the summer season even started when he informed RB Leipzig in May that he was prepared to depart.

It hasn’t occurred yet. Why?

Even if his individual output was very healthy, Simons, like a number of his teammates, suffered from Leipzig’s comparatively bad season (they ended seventh, the lowest Bundesliga finish since being promoted in 2016).

The most significant issue has been that teams are unsure of how to handle him. Not many teams in the top five leagues can fit a player like Simons, who has played in Leipzig’s system, which uses a very special style of No 10—part wide-forward, part supporting striker.

Because of that uncertainty, teams were hesitant to spend so much money on a player who is still largely theoretical. What is he, really? What role does he perform best in? Furthermore, it appears that interest is only now being formally formalized since Leipzig is more flexible with their asking price and eager to move on.

Thanks for Reading!
